Honestly, we dont understand odds here. Both players are bad this season, and maybe bookies are influenced by Starace results in the past.
But now, Italian is around 100th place at ATP list, he dont play well on the clay and cant be clear favourite vs Gulbis.
Young Latvian has big serve and people usually think that he is fast courts player but miss one thing. Guy played at QF of Roland Garros, so when he is in form, he can play on this surface.
Problem is that Gulbis dont look sharp so far in this season, however, he is better than Starace in our opinion and we just see Latvian as slim favourite here…
